Live Your Dream Educational Awards Program
Please join us in making a difference in the lives of women and girls!
Soroptimist International is a global organization that helps women and girls who need a boost in order to achieve their dreams, pay it forward, and serve as role models to their children and others. Our programs support women who are in need and have experienced extreme hardships, by providing for them the resources they need to improve their lives.
Every year Soroptimist International of Dayton provides educational awards to two or more deserving women. Applicants are reviewed and then interviewed by an independent panel and winners are recognized at the Education Awards Spring Ceremony. A minimum of two awards are granted annually with the hope of granting additional awards in the near future.
The Live Your Dream Award is to assist women with primary financial responsibility for their families. This award is designed to help obtain the skills-training and education necessary to improve their employment status and standard of living for themselves and their family. A club award of $1,500 is granted to an eligible woman from the greater Dayton Area enrolled in a trade school, community college or university. The club winner’s application is then submitted to the regional and national Soroptimist levels that can total to more than $10,000 of additional funds.
The Better Life Award, first established in 2014, commemorates women dedicated to overcoming insurmountable hardships to make a better life. This award is for a woman attending a college or university to earn an associate, bachelor, or master's degree in order to make a better life for herself and others. A local club award of $1,500 is granted to an eligible woman from the Greater Dayton Area.
DONATIONS TOWARDS THE LIVE YOUR DREAM EDUCATIONAL FUND DIRECTLY SUPPORTS OUR MISSION OF PROVIDING HELP FOR DESERVING WOMEN TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES AS WELL AS THEIR CHILDREN. BY PROVIDING A PATHWAY TO INDEPENDENCE WOMEN ESCAPE THE ATROCITIES SUCH AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, POVERTY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING.
